The Brautigan Book Club (BBC) launches with:

THE AMERICAN FOREVER, ETC.

- A Library

Wed 25 Jan 2012

An interactive performance piece inspired by Richard Brautigan’s novel,

The Abortion - An Historical Romance 1966

The Abortion concerns the librarian of a very unusual California library which accepts books - "the unwanted, the lyrical and haunted volumes of American writing" - from anyone.

Starring Thom Tuck & Zoe Gardner.

Featuring Gruff Rhys, Martin Carr, H.Hawkline, Joe Duggan, Louise Stern, Aaron Williamson & Polly Frame.

In an odd post-apocalyptic world where being a librarian is a high-risk activity, The Librarian, operating underground in this dark and disguised East London artists’ enclave, is presented with the challenge of cataloguing submissions which aren’t quite...books.

The American Forever, Etc uses Brautigan’s novel as a starting point.

The Librarian can’t possibly leave the library. Who would be there to receive submissions such as THE CULINARY DOSTOEVSKI or MY TRIKE (by Chuck) if he did?

***Roaming radio producer Katherine Godfrey will be requiring your participation in

gathering audio material.

***AlienDeathSpike aka Matt Hope will present Trout Fishing in Sound, a unique selection of Brautigan shanties and sing-a-longs
